Kibale National park [Primates Capital of the World Chimpanzees]

Kibale National Park

Kibale forest national park, one of the most visited national park in Uganda. Known to be the home of the chimpanzee and has been the primates capital of the world. It's 766kms in size and is located between 1100m ( 3600 ft) to 1600m (5200 ft) in elevation . Despite encompassing primarily most ever green forest, it contains a diverse array of land scape . The park contains one of the loveliest and most varied tracts of tropical rainforest in Uganda . In Eastern Africa, it sustains the last significant expanse of pre montane forest. 


Kibale forest park has one of the highest diversity and concentration of primates in Africa. It's home to the endangered chimpanzee over 1250 chimpanzee existing in the park as well as the red colombus monkeys and rare L' hoests monkeys . The park was gazetted in 1932 and formally established in 1993 to protect a large area if forest previously managed as a forest reserve.


Kibale's major attraction however is the opportunity to track the habituated chimpanzee these delightful apes more closely related to humans .

Activities at Kibale forest national Park.


Chimpanzee trekking:

Kibale's most popular activity is the kanyanchu primates walk. Thirteen species can be sougut and a good variety of monkeys can be encountered. But the stars of this forest are the chimpanzees.  There are two shifts for chimpanzee trekking , the morning session which Starts at 8am lasting for 2 to 5 hrs depending on the chimpanzee feeding movements. You will only be given one hour to stay with the chimpanzee after finding them.


You can decide to do a full day chimpanzee habituation which starts at 6am in the morning with de nesting the chimpanzee staying with them the whole day.


Other primates that May be found on these guided walks include guereza colobus , olive baboons, grey cheeked mangabeys and so many other primates. Like the parks is referred to primates capital of the world', except to see lots of different primates. 


NIGHT WALKS:

The guides night walks are rewarding , potto, spectacled demidoffs and Thomas Galagos , common Genet are all possible to be seen during this walk. The walk may also startt at the briefing point of the park .


BIRD WATCHING:

Bird watching tours starts at 8am at the kanyanchu gate, you will head in the forest in the search of birds with over 335 bird species, which includes the endemics prirogrines . Bigod's sanctuary wetland located outside the park is home to over 138 bird species which maybe seen on this guided nature walk.


NATURE WALK:

You can decide to take a nature walk with a guide which is worth. You will have chances to spot some 13 primates species and by good chance you can as well spot some chimpanzee on the same trail in the forest
